Colleen Sue Barnes

Colleen Sue Barnes, 79, ended her earthly journey and returned to her heavenly Father on July 16, 2016 after a battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Colleen was born in Marceline, Missouri to the late James and Aileen Malloy. She was a Marceline High School cheerleader and married her best friend, James Don Barnes on December 29, 1957. Colleen was blessed with a very close and loving family. Colleen and Jim raised three boys with patience, discipline, humility and God’s love. From the very beginning, she encouraged her boys to attend Mass regularly and to respect others.

Colleen was loved by all. She always had a smile on her face and was always making everyone laugh. In fact, Colleen was the glue that held the family so close together. She was kind, loving, and was always thinking of others. Colleen was active in church activities and she and Jim for years took communion to those in need.

Colleen was survived by her sons Mark, Jeff, and Doug Barnes; her grandchildren Tim, Lauren, Brook, Katie, Megan, Zach, Braden, and Autumn Barnes; her two brothers Jim and Ron Malloy. She is preceded in death by her husband, James and her parents, James and Aileen.

Colleen will be laid to rest at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri with her loving husband, James Don. The family is grateful for your prayers and condolences that can be posted at www.heartlandcremation.com.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, on Friday, July 22, 2016 followed by a memorial service at 11, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo 64133.
