Conness Blair

Conness Johnston Blair, a lifelong Joplin resident, died December 9, 2007 at Bishop Spencer Place, an Episcopal retirement community in Kansas City, where she had resided since September. Mrs. Blair was married to the late Charles David Blair of Joplin. She was 80 years old. Mrs. Blair was a 1945 graduate of Joplin High School and attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church where she served on the vestry and was an active member of St. Margaret’s Altar Guild. She was a member of Twin Hills Golf and Country Club, Delta Gamma women’s fraternity and past president of the Joplin Historical Society. Survivors include three sons, Timothy David Blair of Bel-Air, Calif.; Allen Wilks Blair and his wife, Libby, of Kansas City; and Dan Gregory Blair and his wife, Michele, of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, including Amy Elizabeth Blair, of Washington, D.C., and Catherine Conness Blair and David Allen Blair, both of Columbia. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 15, at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, Joplin, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Margaret’s Altar Guild, in care of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 706 S. Byers Ave., Joplin, Mo., 64801, or Bishop Spencer Place, 4301 Madison Ave., Kansas City, Mo. 64111.
