I am Daniels Sister Nancy…
Being the only Sister and the youngest of two older Brothers, I think I really have always known how special that was.. but didn’t fully understand it until I was grown up.
I have known for many many years how blessed I was to have had such a wonderful childhood.. 2 loving parents that gave so much of themselves to make sure their 3 children were well provided for , taught us how to work for what you want in life, but mostly know that they were all Loved!
Dan, Don and I were all 2 years apart… Dan and Don were Newspaper Boys and also mowed yards for side work. Dan was very proud of his newspaper delivery and won many Carrier of The Week, and Carrier of the year awards for the Columbia Daily Tribune for several years and even traveled to Nebraska in 1967 to meet , Governor Norbert Tiemann. This was part of an Exchange Carrier Program, sponsored by ‘Family Weekly Magazine ‘. The two Nebraska Newspaper boys were guests in Columbia.
Dan also loved to write poetry… He won several local contests
for Cental Dairy products. writing little poems and winning a dollar! (Which at that time was a really big deal)🤗
Dan was also very proud of his Safely Patrol work at Ridgeway Elementary school .. and was honored for his service to guide the children safely across the street. ..that was very important to Dan!
Dan also loved to fish and swim as a little boy and a teenager. I remember so many times my family would go fishing at Little Dixie Lake . Dan always caught fish,!
There were so many wonder
things i remember about Dan .. he was not only a great brother.. he was also great to my 4 Sons..Curtiss, Wayne, Christopher & Henry … they all have wonderful memories of their Uncle Dan that they will never forget. My husband always considered him a Brother.. they shared good times together … even built his house together… and he helped build ours too.
But I will ALWAYS remember those special moments we shared… the fun times, the family times, the holidays, the get togethers ,the precious memories and the times just shared by us… So Daniel my Brother… Go rest High on that Mountain… You deserve it…Go catch those flies by hand like you always have…and from now to Eternity..I’m looking over a Four leaf 🍀.. that I’ve never looked before…and I will ALWAYS think of you! ❤️❤️❤️
Dan will be missed greatly, by his family and friends. He was a very nice person. He was always friendly and welcoming, when we would visit Terry and Nancy. I pray he is at peace now, and rejoicing with Henry and Helen.
