Danielle Maria Nigro, 37 of Shawnee Kansas passed away on February 6, 2025 at home. A celebration of life will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, February 27th at the Sylvester Powell Community Center, 6200 Martway Street, Mission, Kansas 66202. Danielle was born February 27, 1987 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Danielle was outgoing and friendly. She loved music, dancing and Karaoke with her wide circle of friends. She also loved being a teacher and made life long friends with many of her students and their parents. She enjoyed a fourteen year career in infant and childcare culminating as a pre-school teacher.
Danielle attended Allen County Community College and Kansas City Kansas Community College where she completed the Early Childhood Education program.
Danielle was preceded in death by all of her grandparents, her cousin Jared Charles Pate, aunts Patricia Gavin, Lori Nigro, Sabrina Nigro, Maria Nigro and uncles Tony Nigro, Jimmy Nigro, and Gene Gavin.
Survivors include parents John and Sharon Nigro, fiancé Derek Myers, sister Leslie Moreland, brother-in-law Josh Moreland, niece Valyrie Freeman, nephews Dean Freeman and Oliver Moreland. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to The American Kidney Fund who help dialysis patients with health insurance gaps.
I’ve known Danielle for many years. She and Michael were friends and went to school together. We were neighbors in RedOak Court. Danielle had a great laugh and beautiful smile.
She was a very caring young woman. We shared many laughters and tears. I really miss her and have fond memories of times we shared.
