Darlene Frances Smith, 74, passed away July 25, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City metro area. Darlene graduated Westport high school. She retired from Thales (Wilcox electric) after 36 years.
She was preceded in death by: parents, Henry and Alta Landreth. Darlene was the last surviving of the six children.
Survivors include: husband of 50 years, Ralph Smith; two sons, David Fuentes (Misty) of Topeka, KS and Brian Smith (Melissa) of Belton, MO; two grandsons, Hunter Gilbert of Jayton, TX and Cooper Smith of Belton, MO.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Ascend Hospice for their care. Memorial contributions are suggested to Ascend Hospice, 783 NE Anderson Ln, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064.
There will be a private graveside service at a later date due to percussions of COVID19.

My heart goes out to y’all. She was a wonderful mother-in-law. She had one of the biggest heart. Love you Darlene!! I will miss our conversation.
My thoughts and prayers for the family. I think back on all the fun we used to have, bowling and bar hoping. Great fun with great friends. Even she took a piece of my heart with her, I am glad she is now at piece and not struggling to breath.
