With the heaviest of hearts, we share the heartbreaking and unexpected passing of David (Dave) Lingrel—a beloved father, son, brother, partner, and friend.
Born on October 22, 1979, in Jonquière, Quebec, Canada, David departed this life on September 19, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. He is survived by his sons, Connor and his wife Chloe Lingrel and Corbin Lingrel of South Dakota; his parents, Virgil (Ray) and Frances Lingrel of Valrico, Florida; his sister, Sheila Gravagna, her husband Brian; nieces, Taylor and Kaylee Gravagna of Lithia, Florida; and his partner, Nicki Bates.
David’s boys were the center of his world—he loved them deeply and was endlessly proud of them. Being able to celebrate at Connor and Chloe’s wedding was one of the happiest moments of his life, cherishing that time together with his boys.
To know David was to love him. He had a natural gift for lighting up every room he entered and was truly the life of the party. He welcomed everyone with his big personality, an even bigger heart, and the warmest bear hugs. David was an avid sports enthusiast who passionately cheered on the Las Vegas Raiders (“Go Raiders!”), loved playing baseball and softball, and always rooted for the Kansas City Royals. He also had a true passion for competitive cornhole, surrounded by a tight-knit community of friends who supported and played alongside him. His radiant presence will be missed beyond measure by everyone blessed to know and love him.

A celebration of life and lunch will follow immediately in the parish hall; all are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Dave’s memory.

Dave! Youre my dude two years before we both exited South Dakota. I loved our Softball Team- “Adrenaline” We became a dynamic duo. You were our clean up hitter and brought Brandon and I in for the score. I believe you call yourself “Athletic Fat Kid”. We jammed Skrillex on the way to Beer League games. Even after summer softball we never lost touch. Lastly, auto correct somehow spelt your name wrong and then spelled it “V”. So we called each other V.. Dave I hope you’re hanging out with Chris Farley because that’s what you remind me of. I love you man. Save me a seat for when I see you next.
