David Lee Wratchford

David Lee Wratchford, born February 12, 1976, passed away on April 4, 2026, surrounded by family and friends who loved him.

David was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Donald and Bobbie Wratchford. He was an incredible man who brought joy into every room he entered. He was the kind of friend you hope to have, a beloved brother, and, above all, a devoted father to his three girls—his greatest pride.

David had a deep love for sports that began at a very young age, serving as a batboy alongside his dad, who was a coach, and his brother. From the moment he was old enough to drag a bat back to the dugout, he was hooked. As one of the youngest batboys in Little League history, he grew up watching his dad coach, which sparked a lifelong passion he would carry forward for decades.

He went on to become a dedicated softball coach who made a lasting impact on every player who had the privilege of calling him “Coach.” He was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and the Chicago Bulls—especially the Jordan and Pippen era—and he passed that love of the game on to his daughters.

Some of his most cherished moments were spent on the softball field with his daughter Madison, on the golf course with his daughter Grace, and at Arrowhead Stadium with his daughter Kaitlyn. Being a father was the most important role of his life, and he showed up for his girls in every way that mattered.

David also shared a close and meaningful bond with his family. He loved his siblings deeply and was a proud brother to Don Wratchford (Wendy) and Dana Ruhl (Joe), and a caring brother-in-law to Casey. He adored his nieces and nephews—Devin Wratchford (Kaitlin), Samantha Wratchford, Jacob Ruhl (Lisa), and Kimberly (Ruhl) Gragg (Aaron)—and took great joy in being part of their lives.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bobbie Wratchford.

He is survived by Natasha, with whom he shared three beautiful daughters: Madison Wratchford, Gracelynn Wratchford, and Kaitlyn Wratchford; his granddaughter, Leia; his brother and sister; his nieces and nephews; his great-nieces and nephews; his aunt, Beverly Reed (Cliff); and his dearest friends, Adam Hermesch and Kenneth Grigsby (Aunt Amanda), whom he considered brothers.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
