David Tull, 86, Grandview, MO passed peacefully April 19, 2011 in The Kansas City VA Hospital, following a four year illness. For many years Dave owned and operated, Air Compressor Repairs in Grandview. At the age of 16 he joined the U.S. Navy. During WW II he spent time in England and Scotland. In 1967 he married Jeanette (Janey) Griffin. Their strong beliefs in God, country and community brought joy, happiness and stability to their 44 years of marriage. Dave was a productive member of the Richards-Gebaur Base-Community Council. He served as council president, chairman of the airman of the month and year programs and chief of protocol (assisted by Janey) for several years. He proudly served twice as the civilian chairman of the “R.G. Operation Handshake” (open house). Dave held life memberships in the following: VFW, DAV (chapter 2-KC), MOC, VFW National Home for Children and the BPO Elks Lodge #2088. He was a past Commander, Quartermaster, Bar Manager of Sam Danley-Pete Dover VFW Post 302 and a member of Grandview VFW Post 8100. He made friends easily and knew how to, “get the job done”. Dave was preceded in death by his parents William Gurley and Florence (Folsom) Tull; a daughter Patricia Ann Karopchinsky (Nov. 19, 2010), Siblings Eugenia Albano, Margaret Endicott, William Tull, Clancy Tull, P. Edwin Tull. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Janey of the home, son David Lawrence Tull of Arlington, VA, son-in-law Harry Karopchinsky, grandsons Ryan (Wendy) Karopchinsky and Paul Karopchinsky; great-granddaughter Brittani Sipes, all of Maryland, sisters-in-law Gladys Tull of Eldorado Springs, MO and Marilyn Mermoud of Ballwin, MO, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren Alicia and Dustin Bigelow of Kansas. Special thanks to the following for the loving, helping hands during Dave’s illness and passing: K.C. VA Hospital medical teams and staff; the Howard Glover family; J.C. and Jean Cary; Jimmy Fletcher, Marshall and Jackie Bigelow; Jim and Ellen Dougan; Dan Gassen; Brian Reid; Larry and Gloria Clarkin; BPO Elks Lodge #2088 and DEARS Aux. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011, 7 PM at the Grandview Hickman Mills Elks Lodge #2088, 13600 Arrington Road, Grandview, MO. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the charity of your choice or to the Elks Lodge #2088 Scholarship Fund. Dave will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
