Dawn L. Hurley

Dawn L. Hurley of Independence, Missouri, passed away on July 9, 2026, following complications from cancer.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Hurley and family; and her sons, Brian and Justin Hurley and their families. She is also survived by her siblings Jeannie, William, Vicky, James, Jr., Jason, and their families, as well as multiple extended family members. Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Hurley; her parents, James E. Jarrels, Sr., and Mary Jarrels; her brother, John Jarrels; and her sister, Katherine Jarrels.

Dawn spent her younger years in Maryland and was proud to have gone to secretarial school after high school. Ultimately, she knew she wanted children and to be a stay-at-home mom. She proudly devoted herself to raising her children and caring for her family. She was a kind, giving, and loving mother and grandmother who cared deeply for those closest to her. Spending time with her grandchildren was especially meaningful to her, and she cherished the time they shared together. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble, listening to multiple genres of music, and watching football and TV shows such as Survivor and Gilmore Girls.

Dawn will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 802 NW Vesper St., Blue Springs, Missouri 64015.
