Debby Kay Rowell, 53 years young, lost her battle against breast cancer on Thursday March 31, 2005. She was born in Dublin, TX, on Feb. 27, 1952, to Otis Barnard & Mattie Pack Barnard. Debby devoted her life to nursing. She began in high school as a candy striper in Brownwood,TX. She continued her career in oncology and spent the last 23 years in ophthalmology with Hunkeler Eye Centers of Kansas City. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2, from 4-6 p.m., at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th St., KCMO. In lieu of flowers, Debby requested donations be made to support the Susan B. Komen, The 3 Day Walk in Kansas City, June 17-19, in which her husband, daughter and daughter-in-law will be participating. Debby is survived by her husband, Gustaf D. Rowell; her children, Shaun Wesley Milliken, of Olathe, KS, and Traci Rena Kolinek, of Austin, TX; one sister, Patty Barnard Lewis, of San Saba, TX; three grandchildren, Madelyn, Wesley, and Reeve; father, Otis Barnard, and Mattie Barnard (deceased) of Brownwood, TX.
