Dolores J. “Dee Dee” DeHardt

Dee Dee DeHardt passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015.  A celebration of her life will be held at The Blue Springs Country Club, 1600 Circle Drive, Blue Springs, MO 64014, Friday, March 13, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dee Dee was born on May 1, 1932, to Virgil and Viola Frances McKinzie on a farm in Randolph County, Missouri.  She loved to tell the story about riding her horse to a one-room grade school.  Dee Dee and her mother moved to Kansas City when she 12 years old.  She graduated from Central High School and then attended Central Missouri State where she met and later married William David DeHardt of Independence, Missouri in 1951.  Dee Dee and Dave taught school in the Kansas City School District through 1969.  Dee Dee spent the remainder of her working career as a Realtor in South Bend, Indiana and Hot Springs, Arkansas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, David and son, Cary.  She is survived by her sons Jay (Jill) DeHardt and John (DJ) DeHardt, stepsons Mike (Rose) Ott and Kirk (Lynette) Ott, grandchildren Lori Hendrix, Andrea (Ryan) Word, Katie (Troy) Petersen, David (Heather) DeHardt, C.J. DeHardt, Jacob DeHardt, Noah DeHardt, Ryan Ott, Sophia Ott and David Ott, plus 12 great-grandchildren.  Grandma Dee Dee had an unmatched zest for life, lived it to the fullest, and she and her potato rolls will be sorely missed.

    Dee Dee was always such a joy to be with. Diamondhead Community has missed her greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

    Just found out, very sad news. One of a kind lady, she will be missed by most anyone who met her.
