Donna Ashlock (96) of Olathe, passed away Friday, November 29th, after a brief battle with cancer. Donna was the fourth of six children born to Bennie C. and Virgie B. Beougher, in Grinnell, Kansas, a town of 300 people, where her family owned and operated the local grocery store.

At the start of Donna’s senior year in high school, the family moved to Parsons, Kansas. She graduated in 1945 and then attended Labette County Junior College, followed by Baker University and Pittsburg State University earning her degree in Education. After teaching in Parsons, she applied for a teaching position in Olathe, which at that time required an interview by a Board of Education member. It was that moment she met and fell in love with Don Ashlock, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Don passed away in 2012.

Donna taught at Olathe High School and then she and Don started a family. For a few years, Donna continued substitute teaching while raising two children. She was an avid tennis player and golfer. She and Don supported the Olathe Swim Club, the Chestnut Theatre, and they loved to travel. She was a proud member of P.E.O. and Grace United Methodist Church.

Besides her husband Don, Donna was preceded in death by her sisters, Leona, Clarice and her brothers, Clifford, Cleo, and Roland.

She leaves behind her son Mitch (Terri), daughter Tracy (Sergio), grandchildren Whitney (Rees), Dylan, and Amber (Justin) with a great granddaughter Emma, and many nieces and nephews.
