Donna Faye Lewis (Kerr)

Donna Faye Lewis (Kerr) was born on June 18th, 1953 in Oakland, CA to Stanford and Vera Kerr. She was raised alone by her father along with her brother and sister until he remarried in 1972.

In 1971 and 1974 she gave birth to her daughter and son, both whom she loved unconditionally. She was a stay at home mom until the early 1980s. She bravely battled and won her fight against breast cancer twice in 1986 and 1997. She was very proud of being a survivor. In 1997 she began her beloved occupation as a nutritionist for Harvester’s Food Bank. Over the years she bonded and built relationships with many families and seniors struggling with poverty and malnutrition. She had a heart of gold and always tried to help someone no matter what and personally bent the rules occasionally to help those who really needed it. When she retired her hobbies included collecting carnival glass and angels. She also loved judging barbecue competitions with her husband on the weekends and getting ice cream afterwards. Her family was her joy and her greatest treasure and she always let us know that.

She was preceded in death by her mother Vera, her father Stanford, her sister Carla, and her brother Gregory.  Her survivors include her husband Donald Lewis, her daughter Alaina Smith, her son Eric Foster, her grandchildren (including Bayley, Mariah, and Sophia) and great grandchildren (including Nikohli, Lailah, and Alora) and other children and grandchildren whom she adopted over the years.

Visitation will be 2pm, followed by funeral services at 3pm, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery at 11am, Thursday, February 8, 2024.
