Donna Mae Van Lew

Donna Mae Van Lew, 89, of Akron, IA passed away on November 18, 2025 at Akron Care Center from Heart Failure. Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Platte City Cemetery, Platte City, MO.

Donna was born on October 4, 1936, in Woodward, Iowa. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1955. On October 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lee Roy Van Lew. Donna devoted many years to caring for her home and family before joining the workforce as a salesperson, where she enjoyed meeting people and sharing her warm, friendly nature.

She was preceded in death by: husband, Lee Roy Van Lew; parents, William and Mae Grimes; sister, Dorothy Rothfus; brothers, Wilbur and Eugene; daughter, Merridee; and grandson, Matthew Van Lew.

Survivors include: son, Darrell (Rhonda) Van Lew; daughters, Denise (William) Runge and Doreen (Daryl) Kyle; 10 grandchildren: Danielle (Sam) Walker, Anna (Chase) Conner, Amanda (Phil) Pemberton, Megan Runge, Tara Netley, (Andy)
Ashley Runge, Shane Bakalar, Justina (Eric) Cox, Brittnay Avis and Kyle Avis; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
