Donnie Gene Benedict, 78, of Columbia passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at home surround by his loving family.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 616 Jackson St., Columbia, MO 65203.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Jacksonville State Veterans Cemetery.  He was born July 29, 1934 in Columbia to the late Louis and Evelyn (Stone) Benedict.  Donnie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce of the home, two sons Dennis (Sue) and Chris (Joy), two daughters, Sheila (Jim) and Terri (Mark) as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
