Doran E. Bowen

Doran E. Bowen of Independence, Missouri died in his home January 14, 2021. Mr. Bowen was born in Atchison County, Missouri on October 23, 1926, the son of Charles E. Bowen and Amelia Mae (Foley) Bowen. He was the youngest of 6 children, all of whom preceded him in death.  Mr. Bowen served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College and taught mathematics in Iowa and Missouri from 1949 to 1988, most of those years at Kansas City Northeast High School. He retired from the Kansas City, Missouri School District in 1988. Doran is survived by his wife of 72 years, Beverly D. Bowen, and two sons, William Craig (Joanie) Bowen of Sedalia, Missouri and Brian Bowen of Buckner, Missouri, as well as five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
