Synek, Doris Jane nee Grunwald, age 88, was united with Jesus on May 18, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Synek, married April 13, 1952, and mother of Ruth Busenitz, Timothy (Kelly), Karen Stika (James), and Judy Fuller (Mark). Grandmother of twelve, great grandmother, sister of the late Reverend Donald Grunwald, mother-in-law, aunt and cousin to many who loved her.
Doris was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Ted and Elizabeth Grunwald. She graduated from Elmhurst College with a degree in Christian Education, and wherever the family moved, Doris was involved in the church with children, youth, and adult education. Joseph were cofounders of The Hope Chest in Painesville, Ohio. After 54 years of service assisting those in need of clothes, miscellaneous items, shelter and more, The Hope Chest still works with the Lake County, Ohio welfare department today in providing for those in need at no cost. Doris’ hobbies included playing Bridge, cutting coupons, and going to garage sales.

I am so sad that my very good friend Doris has gone to her Heavenly home. I will miss our phone calls, the only communication we had for so long. I am so sorry I didn’t get to attend Doris’s service, I was at the funeral home making Bill’s arrangements. We will be sharing the same sad time now, but I know the three, Joe, Doris, and Bill, will be together again. May our Lord Jesus watch over your family and take care. Love Doris
