Dorothy Alice Seaver was born on October 24, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and passed away comfortably at her home in Independence, Missouri on Thursday, March 13, 2023 at the age of 97. Dorothy graduated from high school in Philadelphia, then attended Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. For many years, she was a stay at home mother, then later worked in the clerical field with the Department of Agriculture, the VA Medical Center in Kansas City, and Drs. Elser and Smith Opthalmologists. Dorothy loved music and sang in various local church choirs including many year with the Independence Messiah Choir. She served as a volunteer at two local historic sites; the 1879 Chicago & Alton RR Depot and also as a tour guide at the Bingham-Waggoner Estate. Dorothy enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, and England (where her ancestors immigrated from) and many destinations throughout the States. Dorothy attended and was a faithful member of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Zion’s Hill Congregation. Dorothy is survived by three children: Janice Gummerman (Battlefieled, MO), Don Seaver (Lana) (Independence, MO) and David Seaver (Sharon)(Lee’s Summit, MO); seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many friends and extended family members.
