Dorothy Bioff

Dorothy Bioff, 70, Prairie Village, KS, peacefully passed away in the loving arms of her daughter on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at her home. Visitation will be held 3-4 PM, Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas 66206, with funeral services to follow 4 PM at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Dorothy was born August 14, 1934 in Kansas City, MO. Dorothy lived a full life?the middle daughter of three daughters, graduating from Paseo High School in 1952, and obtaining a degree in elementary education and vocal music in 1956, from the University of Kansas. She was in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority while at KU. She sang in a band, taught kindergarten, and wrote published books. Dorothy was married to Allan Bioff for 11 years, had two children, and was divorced in 1973. Since that time she taught kindergarten in the Kansas City Missouri School District for 24 years, retiring in 1996. She also wrote articles once a month to the Kansas City Star, ?Letters and Voices?, wrote for other local publications, organized the Village Singles Group and was an avid tennis player. Dorothy was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Prairie Village, KS. She was a lifelong cat lover and will be missed by her three cats, Buddy, Pablo, and Layla. She is preceded her in death by; father & mother, Frederick William Brunn & Ethel Flora Brunn; sister, Evelyn Steffey Santa Rosa, CA. Survivors include; son & daughter-in-law, John & Alice Bioff; their children, Paul, Amy and Sara Bioff, Nome, Alaska; daughter & son-in-law, Linda & Steve Wyman; and their children, Miranda, Kiersten and Cameron , Washington D.C.; sister, Betty Brunn Pewtress; brother-in-law, Robert Pewtress Sr., The Plains, VA, and their sons, Rob Pewtress Jr., and his wife, Carmen Pewtress, Kansas City, KS, and Ben Pewtress, Manassas, VA. The family wants to express a special thanks to Channell Townsend, Julie Wright, and Jessie Richardson for their wonderful care and treatment provided to Dorothy during her illness.
