Dorothy Marie (White) McAbee was born on June 2, 1941, in the rural area of Terlton, Oklahoma, in her family home on the family farm. Dorothy was the middle child of three children born to Jessie Francis White and Lola Velma (Scott) White. Years later the family relocated to Ponca City, Oklahoma where Dorothy received her education. After high school she worked in the local bakery. She later met and married Army Veteran Chauncey Warren McAbee on June 2, 1959 after Chauncy completed his honorable discharge from the Army. They settled in Ponca City, Oklahoma welcoming 5 children, LaJohna, Darren, Nicole, Amber and Trina. The family later settled in Independence, Missouri 1970 where they continued to reside. During this time, Dorothy was a home maker.

Her home reflected her love for the Japanese culture. She enjoyed traveling, antiques, having her annual garage sales, serving on the PTA board at the children’s school, loved spending time with family and being a Blue Bird Leader for her daughters. She was a devoted, faithful 4th generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she diligently memorized and studied scriptures. She served in many church positions, including the Relief Society, and the Children’s Primary Program, as well as Hometeacher Coordinator. As a Hometeacher Coordinator at church, she took pride and showed on hundred percent devotion to the completion of her monthly reports she turned in each month.

Her angel wings were ready to fly, but our hearts were not. She will be missed.
