Douglas D. Barnes, 60, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away August 11, 2009, at KU Medical Center, from lung cancer. Doug was born October 3, 1948 in Rochester, NY. He and his wife owned Patina Inc., a decorative painting company, until his retirement. He served in Vietnam in the USMC. He enjoyed spending his time on the golf course. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and loved doing projects for friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Mary, daughter Haley Wiese (Ben). Siblings including Richard Barnes (Dana), David Barnes, Danny Barnes (Donna), and Deborah Duvall (Charlie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 1pm, Monday August 17, 2009 at Unity Village in the Silent Unity Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Unity Village Chapel in Lee’s Summit (www.unity.org) or The Turning Point (Center for Hope and Healing) 8900 State Line Road, Ste. 204 Shawnee Mission, KS 66206.
