Douglas Lynn Marcy, age 67, of Columbia, Missouri passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at Boone Hospital from lung disease. Doug was born in Lindsborg, Kansas on December 31, 1953 to Doug and Janette Marcy.
He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1975 with a degree in Forestry and later graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Computer Programming. He worked in property maintenance and management for years, purchasing and remodeling homes. He was an avid reader, a great cook and well known for his rum cakes!
Doug is survived by his wife Gail (Tickman) of almost 42 years; loving dad to Aaron and Andrew, both of Columbia; proud Poppa of Maxim Maverick of Columbia; brother Ronnie Marcy of Olathe, Kansas; sisters Janice Marcy Smith of Olathe, Kansas, Pam Marcy Hlad of Sylvan Grove, Kansas and Peggy of Chino Hills, California; many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Taylor Alice.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Missouri Food Bank in his name.
The Marcy family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I will miss Doug’s gentle manner, his caring presence, and wry sense of humor that always made me laugh. Many hugs to all the lovely Marcy family members.

Gail, so sorry to hear about Lynn. I have a lot of stories to share hopefully someday about some things Lynn and I did.
Very sorry to hear your loss. Pam and I were in the same graduating class. But I remember all of you. My sympathy to everyone.

My brother was a loving husband, father, son and brother. I am so grateful I’ve had the privilege of being his sister. He will be missed greatly by all who love him but he will live on in our hearts and minds.
I heard about Doug’s passing from my son. I pray for your peace. We have many happy memories of Doug.
