Please join me in honoring the life of Dr. Robert David Carmitchel.
Robert was born in Kansas City, on January 5th, 1937, and died on October 17th, 2020. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who love and cherish him, and all the times we have shared together. Robert, (Uncle Bob) is well-loved by many nieces and nephews and their children who he held very dear, and enjoyed spending time. Robert was continually amazed and thankful for his siblings, spending time with them on a frequent basis. He enjoying their love, friendship, and their shared witnessing of one another and the beautiful family and life created by their mother and father.
Robert was a world Traveler, traveling frequently with his sisters and daughter. He could be heard frequently say, “I travel the world because it is full of wonderful people, and I want to meet them.” He worked for 37 years for his friend and employer Mark Isenberg, and was thankful for Mark’s support and friendship over the years.
Robert was passionate and enthusiastic about his giving to others. He sponsored many children in different countries, donating to schools in Africa, to reconstruction efforts after the earthquake in Nepal, and to many, many local organizations. His most cherished gift however was the gift of donating blood. He was recognized for his donation of over 500 gallons of blood here in Kansas City, and in the past two years, on two separate occasions had the opportunity to literally save someone’s life with his platelets as they went into an organ transplant. This brought him great joy; he was so pleased to be able to give to others.
The world was a better place because he was here. For all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him, and particularly for me, having the honor and lifelong pleasure of calling him my dad, his presence will be missed a million times. Please join me in honoring his life; lift up a thought of gratitude for what you have, a memory of a shared time with those you love; perhaps offer an act of kindness to another in his honor. You loved a good adventure Dad, whether skydiving in Colorado, bungee jumping in New Zealand, or summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. We send you off in love and light on your next adventure.
