Edward Bomberger

Edward C. Bomberger, 75, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away on Monday, September 8, at the VA Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. There will be a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 3, at the Committal Pavilion at the National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Ed’s favorite charity, City Union Mission, 1100 E. 11th St., Kansas City, Mo. Ed was born April 1, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo., to Edward F. Bomberger and Frieda H. Schmidt, and lived in the area his entire life. He graduated from East High School in 1951, married Mary Lukens in 1953 and his second wife, Debra Schumacher, in 1984. Ed served as an accounting clerk for the Army in Alaska during the Korean War. He was an executive for many years at Commonwealth Theatres in Kansas City and served as their treasurer on the board of directors. In the mid 1980s he co- owned a chain of video stores with his son-in-law. In 1989 he joined the Kansas City Police Department as a civilian employee and retired in 1994. Ed is survived by his daughter, Debra Blackmore (husband Mike), and son Phillip Bomberger; five grandchildren, Krista, Matthew, Daniel, Meghan and Mitchell, and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Baby Dan. Ed, friend and father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, we hope your meeting with Jesus in Heaven is everything you dreamed it would be.
