Eleanore M. VonDenk, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas, died peacefully at home on April 25, 2007. She was born on Jan 15, 1918 and was raised in Wausau, WI. At age 20, she moved to St. Louis, MO to marry her first husband Raymond Sullivan Hodge. A few years later they moved to Kansas City. Eleanore was a member of Hillcrest Country Club, the Carriage Club, and the Kansas City Club. She enjoyed boating, spending summers at the Lake of the Ozarks and Lake Lotawana, and was an avid bowler and golfer, and a top-notch bridge player. She was preceded in death by her two beloved husbands with whom she spent many happy years. She married her first husband, Raymond Sullivan Hodge, a mortgage banker & real estate developer, on Valentine’s Day 1938 and they raised 3 daughters, Christine Epperly of Lady Lake, FL, Ralone Green of Middletown, NJ, and Patricia Frye of Denver, CO. Eleanore and Ray enjoyed many trips together in their private planes. After Ray passed away in 1965, Eleanore later married Eugene VonDenk of 5012 Sunset Drive (her next door neighbor). She and Gene traveled throughout the world, until he died in 1988 while vacationing in Russia. In addition to her many friends, Eleanore leaves 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, who were all very special to her. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Atriums for their loving care and support given to Eleanore. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28 at The Atriums on 7300 W. 107th St., Overland Park, KS at 10am.
