Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Bohon Bishop, 62, was called home to be with the Lord she loved so dearly on August 4, 2020 while at home in Raytown, Missouri. She was born September 7, 1957 in Sedalia, Missouri to Emmett L. Bohon, Jr (Junior) and Dorothy Helen Moulder Bohon. Growing up Beth was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church of Sedalia, MO. She was a graduate of Smithton High School where she lettered in choir, band, and cheerleading. She was active in many 4H groups, as well. She became an amazing seamstress and a wonderful cook. After high school graduation, Beth attended the University of Missouri – Columbia where she received her RN degree and moved to Raytown, MO and went to work at Baptist Hospital in Kansas City and later with the Visiting Nurses Association. She met John Allen Bishop and they were married on February 28, 1986. Their joy would increase when they welcomed their daughter, Rachel and son, Brett into their family. Together they chose to serve the Lord as members of First Baptist Church Raytown, now Connection Point Church, and taught their children to love, trust and have faith in the Lord Jesus. At First Baptist Beth found the Lord leading her to serve in the church choir, and in the area she dearly loved, Children’s Choir, for 35 years. In addition, she would find herself working with, and teaching, the 2-year-old Sunday School class. She had a passion for teaching youngsters the love of Jesus through God’s Word and music. Beth was always busy doing God’s work wherever there was a need from First Baptist to Guatemala. Recently she said in an interview, “Jesus loves me so much and has been my Provider and Protector through all these years, the question is: ‘how can I not serve Him?’” That’s what she did her entire life. Now she is serving the Lord in His presence alongside her Mom, Dad, and baby sister. Serving and singing songs as loudly and joyfully as she can. Beth never took for granted the blessings God gave her, big or small, from her Mom and Dad, sisters and brothers to a pillow, air, and insects. You would find these on her handwritten “Thankful List.”

Besides her husband, John, she is survived by a daughter Rachel Shull and son-in-law, Robert, a son, Brett and daughter-in-law, Lizzy and a granddaughter, Leah Beth, all of Raytown. Siblings include four brothers, Stanley (Terry) of Sedalia, Bob (Janie) of Columbia, Charles (Brenda) of Sedalia, and Everett (Brenda) of Cole Camp, two sisters Susan Bello (Steve) of Naples, FL and Lisa Orr (Jeffery) of Raytown, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Emmett Bohon “Junior”, Mother, Dorothy Bohon, and a baby sister.

Memorial contributions are asked to Connection Point Church Children’s Choir, 10500 350 highway, Raytown, Missouri 64138.
The funeral will be recorded for viewing later in the day. You may also listen to the funeral from your car in the parking lot on FM 90.5. this will allow two ways for those not able to attend or not comfortable with being in a large crowd to be part of the service.

My parents and I would attend Memorial Day services at Flat Creek many years ago. I remember The Bohon family well. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
I visited with Beth a little while a couple years ago at Flat Creek.
She also took care of my Dad at Research many, many years ago.

Our families have been friends since childhood. Our dads were 2 of the 3 deacons in Flat Creek church back then.
In reading the beautiful tributes to Beth on her Facebook page about how she has touched so many lives over the years, I am reminded of a favorite song of mine that has very appropriate words: Ray Boltz’s “Thank You (for giving to the Lord. I was a life that was changed.”

????. Bendiciones a cada uno.
