Elizabeth Ann (Constable) Werner

Elizabeth Ann (Constable) Werner, age 75, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025. She passed away at Overland Park Regional Medical Center fighting pneumonia. Affectionately known as “Liz”, she was born on June 10, 1949 to the late George Nelson Constable and Marjory Elizabeth (Evans) Constable.

Liz was born in Athens, Ohio but grew up in Mansfield, Ohio. She graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1967 and worked as a secretary for United Telephone Company of Ohio. It was there she met her future husband, George. They married in Mansfield, Ohio on April 8, 1978. They followed George’s job from Mansfield to Bellefontaine, Ohio where son Neil was born in 1980. Liz and George moved back to Mansfield where son Grant was born in 1983. She quit her job at United Telephone in 1980 when Neil was born to be the very best mom ever. Shortly after that, the family moved with United Telecom (Sprint) to Kansas City where she raised two wonderful sons. She cared for grandson, Graham, when he was little and loved it. She loved her sons and grandson very much.

Liz loved music! Rock and Blues from the 50’s to current. Her favorite artists were Sting and Prince. If you were playing music trivia, you wanted Liz there as she knew the song titles and artists. She collected Torquay pottery (aka motoware), a British pottery honoring her British mother. Many members of the Torquay Society sought her expertise. She also collected antique Pie Birds (vents) and did crafts. Most of all, being a Mom was what gave her pleasure.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Nelson Constable, her mother, Marjory Elizabeth Constable and her brother, Geoffrey Evan Constable.

She is survived by her Husband of 47 years, George Kilian Werner Jr., son Neil Harris Werner (wife Kelly), son Grant Kilian Werner, grandson Graham Neilson Werner, sister Lesley Constable and nephews, nieces and sister in law.

Liz was a simple, kind person who didn’t seek or like attention. No funeral will be performed. On Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 4pm until 8pm, we will have a celebration of her life at Tanners 87th street, our “Cheers”, the place everyone knows your name and the place she was most comfortable.
