Eric John Claxton

Eric John Claxton, 44, passed away on July 15, 2025. He was born on May 15, 1981, to John and Margie Claxton.

Eric spent his childhood in Bonner Springs and graduated from Bonner Springs High School with the Class of 1999. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and a deep passion for anything that allowed him to work with his hands. He especially enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and racing motocross, even competing in events all over the Midwest during his younger years.

He built a career in the construction industry, where he was known for his skill and dedication. He specialized in excavation work and took great pride in his role as a heavy equipment operator. Whether he was remodeling homes or working on new construction, Eric approached every project with craftsmanship and care.

Eric was known for his easygoing nature, quick wit, and generous spirit. He was always the first to offer help to a friend, and his laughter and stories could make anyone smile. To know Eric was to know someone loyal, fun-loving, and full of passion. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Claxton (2022) and Margie R. Claxton (2016).

Eric is survived by his sister, Kelly Claxton; his niece, Emma VanBrocklin Claxton; his uncle, John Trickett; his uncle and aunt, Mark Claxton and Jennifer Claxton Olson; his uncle, Eric Olson; and many cousins and extended family members who will always cherish his memory.

A celebration of Eric’s life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
