Eric Scott Hunter

Eric Scott Hunter, 53, of Raytown, Missouri passed away June 27, 2019 at Truman Medical Center from cancer.  He was born on January 31, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at Recovery Plus on October 5, 2019. It is located at 65th and Elm in Raytown.

Preceded in death by his grandparents: Ivan and Velma Miller, Carl and Maxine Hunter and Uncle Terry Hunter.

Survivors include parents Iva (Michael) Pickler of Raytown, Missouri and Ron (Deb) Hunter of Cameron, Missouri, sisters Charlotte (Bret) Mitchell of Tampa, Florida and Kristin (Michael) Moore of Cameron, Missouri, niece Mandy (Justin) Swaim of Tampa, Florida, nephews Michael and Gabe Moore of Cameron, Missouri, aunt Maxine (Bob) Burton of Dixon, Missouri, cousins Mike (Robyn) Burton of Raymore, Missouri, J.R. (Carol) Burton of Manvel, Texas, and beloved cat Smokey.

Eric attended South Harrison High School in Bethany, Missouri and later graduated in 1984. Memories from his high school include having bottle rocket fights on the 4th of July, arcade games especially foosball. “He played it like he owned it.” Going to the skating rink where he won a trophy for doing the limbo; 12 inches if I remember right. He liked classic rock music and going to concerts. He and Charlotte talked for hours about music and they went to an AC/DC concert together before she moved to Florida.

Memories of current friends say he was always first to greet them and gave his best effort to help in any way possible. He loved his sobriety group and had coffee ready for them. One person said she thought he had a deep spiritual connection with his Higher Power. Another said that Eric said “he hoped he had helped someone.” Everyone who knew him said he was a kind, giving, and God fearing man.

I can only imagine what it will be like
When I walk, by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When you face is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Surrounded by You glory
What will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus
Or in awe of You be still
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah
Will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine when that day comes
When I find myself standing in the Son
I can only imagine when all I would do is forever
Forever worship You
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah
Will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine hey ya ah
Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel
Will I dance for You, Jesus
Or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah
Will I be able to speak at all
I can only imagine
I can only imagine hey ya ah
I can only imagine yeah yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine ey ey ey
I can only imagine
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine
