Evelyn M. Cavness

Evelyn Marylene “Myrt” Scoggins Cavness, 78, of Hallsville went on to be with her Lord on June 10, 2014, with her family at her side. There will be a private inurnment, for family only. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will take place Friday, June 13, 2014, from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the Red Top Christian Church in Hallsville. Myrt, as many friends and family knew her, was born to Jesse Amberson Scoggins and Nettie Jeanette (Thomas) Scoggins on October 27, 1935 in Keota, Oklahoma. Evelyn was the youngest of 12 children, five bothers and seven sisters, who all have preceded her in death. She married Joe Edd Cavness on October 18, 1952 in Traver, California, who on March 1, 2013, went on to meet his Lord and Savior. They were married for 60 years. Evelyn and Joe had three children: two daughters, Robbin (Thomas) Jacobs, Joey (Daniel) Riley, and one son, Jeff (Bonnie) Cavness. She had eight grandchildren: Kristian (Anthony) Azevedo, Andrew (Gorett) Jacobs, Jacob (Katherine) Riley, Jeremy Rowden, Corey Riley, Kelli (Mike) Zappia, Trevor and Samuel Cavness. She also had six great grandchildren: Devin, Lathan, Christopher, Morgan, Brenna, and Isabella. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Hughey McNail and sister-in-law, Wilma Cavness. Evelyn had an amazing faith in her Lord. Many would hear her always singing a hymn or praising Jesus as she walked around the house. She and Joe studied the Bible and loved gospel music. All who knew her loved her. She loved having big dinners with all of her family together. She worked for many years in her home, running her daycare, and was a crossing guard for Hallsville schools. For those who knew her as Mom, Myrt, Maw-Maw, or G. G, we were blessed to have known her. The family of Evelyn would like to thank the staff and nurses at Boone Hospital for the loving care that they had for our loved one. We also would like to thank Dr. Lyndell Scoles for the respectful and compassionate care that he gave to our mother.

Dear Joey and family, I am so glad to have met your wonderful Mom, loved one. She was such a sweetheart and your obituary for her was perfect. I am sorry I was unable to attend the visitation as I did not learn of it until late this evening. I am glad her “celebration of life” was held on my birthday and so wish I could have been there to see each of you in person and to have met her other loved ones. Sincerely, Sharon
