Everett Earl Wright, beloved father of Timothy Morgan EverLes and Jek Eeon Everchal, died December 16, 2009, at 10:16pm, at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 62.
Born June 21, 1947, at the home of his parents, James Marion and LaRue Neisler Wright, in Fillmore Township, Montgomery County, Illinois, he joined his three older sisters and one older brother.
Mr. Wright grew up on a dairy farm in central Illinois. He graduated from Fillmore Grade School in 1961 and Nokomis High School in 1965. In 1966, he completed an airline support-staff training program at the Humboldt Institute, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Because of the wartime draft of all healthy young men, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, from May 1966 to March 1970, serving two years at the SAC Base near Glasgow, Montana, and one year at the U-Tapao Airbase in Thailand.
After living and working in New York City for two years, Mr. Wright moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in the fall of 1972. He graduated from the University of Missouri—Kansas City with a degree in psychology and sociology.
He began working with the HomeSharing program in Kansas City as a student intern shortly after it was founded in 1982 and eventually became the heart and soul of that program, dedicated to matching the elderly and disabled who need assistance to continue living in their own homes with young people who need affordable housing.
After he became too disabled to work in 2005, he continued to serve on the board of HomeSharing during their search for new collaborators and funding, which they found in the Local Investment Commission (LINC) of Kansas City, dedicated to creating caring communities within the city. Mr. Wright shared his own home throughout his life.
Mr. Wright was one of the founding members of the Midwest Men’s Festival and has been a strong, life-long advocate for human rights and equality for all.
He was a lover of people, gardens, opera, buddhist thought, photography, cats, pottery, wiccan rituals, jokes, paintings, movies, and much more, but especially people.
Mr. Wright is survived by his daughter, Timothy Morgan EverLes of Kansas City, Missouri; his son, Jek Eeon Everchal of Santa Monica, California; Timothy’s mother Leslie Holmes of Merriam, Kansas; Jek’s mother Charlemkwan Kongphan of Pathum Thani, Thailand; his daughter-in-heart, Skyelore Holmes of Omaha, Nebraska; his sister, Dolores Wright Sturgis of Warsaw, Indiana; his brother, Virgil Wright of Fillmore, Illinois; his sister, Beverly Wright Worth of Warsaw, Indiana; his sister, Juanita Wright Potter of Chicago, Illinois; his many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews; a deep and wide circle of friends who have all known and been inspired by his generous heart, his wicked wit, and his lively, awake spirit.
His oldest sister, Gladys Wright Fravala, died in 1960; his father died in 1990; his mother died in 1998.
A memorial service will be held in Kansas City; time and location to be announced. On June 21, 2010, his ashes will be placed at the base of the solstice stone of the stone circle at the Woodside Memorial Garden, Fillmore Township, Illinois.

I know how much you were loved by your Sister Juanita. She has talked about you in such a loving way. May you enter into our Lord’s presence and find rest and peace.
I never met you, but I see your kinship with your sister Juanita. What a full life you have lived.
May you find the peace we all seek.

There are no words. May his memory be eternal.
My love and prayers are with you, Juanita.
My dear friend Ev,I will miss you and the special friendship we shared. There are so many wonderful memories to cherish. You, Ted, and I were the three musketeers from Glasgow. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
I can’t comprehend just how sad you must feel
For the loss of someone you love.
This sorrowful time must still feel unreal
And you’re looking for strength from above.
I hope, from my heart, that your pain will decrease,
That your spirit will gain strength again,
And I pray that your faith will create inner peace
And that God will send blessings. Shirley Brummet-Clontz

Sounds like Everett truly lived a life “well lived,” and touched so many other people. My sympathy to his children and other loved ones, most especially his soulmate and sister, Juanita.
Everett, I only know you through your sister Juanita, but you sounded like a wonderful man. I grieve for both you and Juanita at this time.
What a remarkable man! My thoughts and prayers are with you Juanita and your family.
To have such a caring brother in one’s family, and now these memories–indeed a blessing. May they help you, Juanita, in this too sudden and too early loss of a good man.
Dear, dear Juanita,
I reread some of my favorite poems this morning thinking of you and the moving on of your brother. Too quickly ends come when we’re just getting comfortable and thankful with what our lives are. He looked like you and shared many of your values. What a loss for you and what a reminder today to live and love never knowing our exact date for moving on.
Mary Oliver’s “When Death Comes”
“When it’s over, I don’t want to wonder
If I have made of my life something particular, and real.
I don’t want to find myself sighing and frightened
Or full of argument.
I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.”
Everett sounds like he lived his life fully, amazingly, with wonder, appreciation and pleasure. So much like his sister.
Love you, Dorothy

Memorial from the Jewish Gates of Prayer
For Juanita who will cherish the memories, this traditional prayer says it well…with blessings on your head from JoAnn Martin Baumgartner
Memorial from the Jewish Gates of Prayer
In the rising of the sun and in its going down,
we remember them.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
we remember them.
In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring,
we remember them.
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of
summer,
we remember them.
In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of
autumn,
we remember them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
we remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart,
we remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share,
we remember them.
So long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are part of us and we remember them.
Remember me in love
and let me live in your hearts forever.”
You are missed my friend. To all who knew you we were blessed . What wonderful memories. You are at peace
