Frances Anne Cooper

Frances Anne Cooper, 100, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021. She was born on May 15, 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri to Milton LaTurin and Elsie (Fredrickson) LaTurin. Fran was raised in Kansas City and graduated from Westport High School and the Kansas City Art Institute where she met and married James (Jim) Willits Cooper on December 12, 1942.

Jim and Fran lived in several parts of the country during WWII and finally settled in Paris, IL and later retired to Lake St. Louis, MO. Fran loved all animals and found great enjoyment in feeding wildlife, her cats, and birds.

She was a member of the National Wildlife Association, the Humane Society, Wayside Waifs, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

She is survived by her sister (Jeanne LaTurin), two sons, James Marcus (Cyn) and John Christopher (Denise). Her grandchildren Chris, Jaime, Kelly and Aaron and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and grandson Brian.

A private family memorial service will be held later with internment at Topeka Cemetery.
