Frank was born May 27, 1937, to John B. Mick and Margeret Sobba Mick in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Rockhurst Highschool, then Rockhurst University. He was proud to have served as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

Frank married Sylvia Marie Scanlon on July 11th, 1964, at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church. Growing up, Frank spent most of his weekends in Greeley, KS, with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In 1972, Frank moved his family from Kansas City to Louisburg, KS, where they raised their four children. Frank lived on “The Farm”, as friends and family call it, until his death.

Frank was an avid outdoorsman who grew up hunting and fishing. He was happiest fly-fishing rivers from southern Missouri all the way up to the Pukaskwa in northern Canada. His favorite family activity was frequent year-round float trips on the Arkansas and Missouri rivers.

Frank appreciated the finer things in life, a cold beverage, Kansas State Football, a nice cigar, a good book, chocolate chip cookies and a glass of red wine. Even with his impaired hearing, he was always there to listen intently about school, careers, sports, or just to chat about life. Most evenings he could be found sitting on the front porch watching the sunset with his four-legged best friend, Hazel Jane, by his side. He will be remembered by his family for his no quit attitude, devotion to his Catholic faith, and famous salutes aimed west.

Mick, his nephew Jeffery Brecklein, his seven grandchildren, and his five great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, John and Margeret Mick, and sisters Maryilyn Brecklein and Kathleen Leon.
