Fred Schwab

Fred Irwin Schwab, 87, of Millington, died at his home on Sunday, October 5, 2008. There will be a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at the Missouri Funeral Care, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Mo. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Kansas City, Mo., he grew up on a dairy farm in Little Blue, Mo., before moving to Millington in 1963. A decorated WWII veteran, he served in the Army in numerous campaigns, including Africa, and the European theater. He worked as a re-evaluation appraiser during his career, becoming a partner in the firm in 1962. Throughout his career his work took him to 43 states and Canada, before retiring in 1997. He was a 32nd degree Mason since 1952 as a member of Ivanhoe Lodge 446 A.F & A.M in Kansas City. In 1981 he became a noble Shriner with Livingston, NJ Salaam Shrine Center, where he joined the Motor Corp. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rites Mason with the Valley of Northern NJ, Lincoln Park. He’s a charter member of American Legion Post 484, Stirling, NJ, as well a member of Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, Inc. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marilyn; his son and daughter-in-law, Sterling and Kathy of Flemington; son, Stacy of Bedminster; grandchildren, Kyle and Kate Schwab; brother, Dr. Charles Schwab, MD; sister, Rose Marsh and husband Dr. Marsh, MD; sister, Mary Gibson.
