Gary Loren Coffelt

December 10, 1949 – November 29, 2020

Gary Coffelt, 70, passed away on the evening of November 29, 2020 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Gary was a U.S. Army veteran and served time in Vietnam in 1969-70. He later became a police officer in the cities of Leavenworth, KS and Macon, MO. Gary also spent several years operating his own bail bonds company, Coffelt Bail Bonds.

Gary’s life is celebrated by his mother, Wilma Coffelt; daughter, Stacey Brown; son and daughter in-law, Ryan and Jenifer Coffelt; former wife Charlene Coffelt; six grandchildren- Dylan, Hunter, Jacob, Trinity, Addisyn and Aviana; and best friend, Jamie Wallace. Gary loved fishing, John Wayne movies, country music, good whiskey, and spending time with his family. He spent many years living in Macon, MO and countless hours at Macon and Long Branch Lakes. He had a clever and funny disposition and was always happy to hear (and tell) a good joke.

Gary’s ashes will be scattered at Long Branch Lake in Macon, MO and at Plad Cemetery in Plad, MO.

Ryan and Jennifer, my heart breaks for you. Losing your dad is a very hard journey. It took years….and before I could talk about my daddy without crying. Peace and love to you. May God bless you and your family and friends healing the brokenhearted.
