Geoffrey “Brian” Jones

Geoffrey “Brian” Jones passed peacefully into heaven on Oct. 25, 2012 less than 4 hours before his 44th birthday. He was constantly surrounded by his loving family and devotedfiancee during the months of his final battle with cancer. Brian was born to Bruce and Bonnie Jones, in San Jose, CA, on Oct. 26, 1968, five minutes after his identical twin brother, Jason ‘Bradley’ Jones. Brian was a resident of Overland Park, KS, most of his life. He attended Mt. Olive Lutheran School through 8th grade. He graduated from Olathe North in 1987 and then continued his education at Washburn University. Brian was a positive, upbeat and uplifting man who brought joy and laughter to all who were privileged to know him. He found happiness in the small things in life and loved being surrounded by his family and friends. Brian had a devout faith in the Lord which brought him strength and comfort during difficult times. He was extremely imaginative and used his artistic talents to share his faith and wonderful view of the world. He created the ‘Righteous Heroes’ a cartoon depicting religious superheroes and also a comic strip called ‘Twin Vision’ which was based on the adventures of the Jones twins and was published in Twins Magazine. Brian had insatiable curiosity, boundless energy and a passion for living. He was an avid collector of vintage toys and comics which was consistent with his enjoyment of classic TV shows and old movies. Health and fitness were extremely important to Brian throughout his life. He was a talented athlete and demonstrated excellence in wrestling, MMA competitions, track and weightlifting. He used his abundant knowledge to help numerous people become healthier through diet, exercise and other sports-related activities. Brian gave of himself tirelessly and was extraordinarily compassionate. He was a tremendously dedicated father to his own children and an influential father-figure to hundreds of other children. Brian devoted his life to the well- being and betterment of children through his occupation as ayouth counselor during his 20 year tenure at Marillac. His gift of caregiving was not just his occupation, but his lifestyle. Brian’s deep religious and moral values had a monumental impact on countless people. The good that Brian did will leave a lasting impression for generations. Brian was predeceased by his father, Bruce Jones Sr. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his adoring family: mother, Bonnie Jones; sisters, Laura Jones, Lisa (Chris) Endriss; brother, Bruce (Missy) Jones; twin brother, Bradley (Alisa) Jones; sons Geoffrey Jones and Christopher Jones; step-daughter, Katie Corum; and fiancee, Jossie Paulino. He was a wonderful uncle to Brandon (Evelyn) Richard, Rachal (Sam Collins), Grace, Lainey, and Bradley Jr. and great-uncle to Brandon Jr., Alex and Sofia. Brian also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous devoted long-time friends including David Hilliard & James Stigliano. There will be a permanent void left in the hearts of all who loved Brian. Brian wanted to be a part of the celebration of his life when he entered Hospice and that was arranged by his twin brother, Brad, who nightly read Facebook posts of people sharing their memories and telling funny stories about Brian. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support dedicated to Brian during his illness and now wishes to commemorate Brian’s life and legacy privately so there will not be a public service held. It’s the life in your years that matter, not the years in your life.
