George Lipták

George “Georgy” Lipták, 86, died Wednesday January 24th, 2024, in Olathe, Kansas after fighting Parkisonson’s for many years.

George was born on August 26th, 1937, in Budapest, Hungary. His passion for soccer led him to be a professional soccer player at the age of sixteen (16) playing in Europe for the Belgium league, RFC Lüttic, the Netherlands league, VV DOS Utrecht and SC Telstar, and then the North American Soccer League for the Vancouver Royals finally ending his soccer career playing for the first soccer team known as the Kansas City Spurs.

His attention to detail encouraged him to pursue a career in structural engineering where he then worked for over 40 years for Black & Veatch Engineering Firm, and then consulted for Bechtel Engineering Firm taking him around the world due to his amazing knowledge of being able to speak 7 languages. He enjoyed living in Kansas City traveling to all the local lakes to go fishing as well as gardening.

George is survived by his two daughters, Celia and Elizabeth and his two granddaughters, Alyssa and Nicola.
