Georgia Duncan

Georgie O. Phillips "Mammam" Duncan was born February 2, 1930 to Willard G. "Red" Phillips and Ruth Winnefred Simmons Phillips in Olathe, KS. She died at her home in Gladstone, MO, on Friday, May 14, 2010. Georgie grew up in Olathe, but her family moved to California on December 7, 1941. She married Lewis Donald " "Don" Duncan on January 18, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. They moved back to Missouri shortly thereafter and raised 5 children at their home in Missouri City, MO, they then moved to Excelsior Springs, MO, in 1968. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis Donald Duncan; sisters, Katherine Stafford, and Barbara Hornback; son, Donald W. Duncan; and daughter, Nita Lynn Smith. Georgie is survived by her daughters, Susan Rose, of Gladstone, and Pamela Crowell, of Liberty; son, David Duncan, of Excelsior Springs; grandchildren: Neil Rose, Tod Rose, Monica Hensler, Matt Duncan, Duncan Barnett, Sarah Rohaus, Daniel Duncan, Scott Duncan, Elizabeth Dean, Georgie Anna Duncan, and Dawn Jessen; 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her "Soul Sisters" Meredith Turner and Ellen Medley. A memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, at Northland Cathedral, 101 NW 99th St., Kansas City, MO 64155. A visitation will precede the service and begin at 4 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
