Gregory Kent Dostal
September 17, 1952 – October 8, 2026
Gregory Kent Dostal, 74, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Nottingham Health and Rehabilitation.
Greg was born on September 17, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was baptized at Saint Elizabeth Parish, where his life will now be celebrated. He grew up in Kansas City and spent most of his life there. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, a job he always remembered fondly. He also built careers in sales and management and took on a number of real estate ventures.
Greg loved the Kansas City Chiefs and the Royals, trout fishing, music, and motorcycles. His favorite places were his cabin in the woods at the Lake of the Ozarks and any beach with Jimmy Buffett playing. He was a man of Catholic faith.
Greg had a great sense of humor and was best known for not taking life too seriously. He was always up for a good time and a good laugh, and his door was open to friends old and new who wanted to stop by and hang out. Nothing made him prouder than his two children, Stephanie and Michael, and he told them so often.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Janet Dostal, and his brothers, Corky and Rick Dostal. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Kotzman; his son, Michael Dostal, and Michael’s wife, Lauren Andreas; and his six grandchildren: Londyn, Layla, Krew, Lily, Violet, and Hunter.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Saint Elizabeth Parish in Kansas City, Missouri, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Greg was my cousin and long distance co-conspirator. Visits to KC were always a thrill and always left me struggling for breath. An addiction formed that outlasted his time on earth. Just 3 weeks my junior, Greg led me through many memorable walks on the wild side that live prominently in my head. Though rarely in the same state, Greg resides permanently in my heart, and shall grow there as long as I’m able to articulate his meaning in my life. Rest and relax, Gregor-Y; you’ve done it all and you’ve done it well. Love you, Cuz.
Greg was a nearby neighbor of mine for many years and he was always fun to hang with and I did alot of his hvac work on his properties , it was fun going down to his cabin at the lake to relax and drink some beers then go to the state fair he was a good friend and will be missed sincerely
