Harry Christian Holzapfel, Jr

Chris Holzapfel, 87, Raytown, Mo passed away Jan. 21, 2020. A celebration of life will be held Sat. Mar. 14, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Ivanhoe United Church of Christ, 6512 Woodson Road, Raytown, Mo 64133.

Harry “Chris” Holzapfel, born in 1932, was a life-long resident of Kansas City. On August 8, 1959 he married his beloved Margie. That same year they moved to Raytown where he lived for the rest of his life. Chris retired from Lonestar Industries where he had been a sales office supervisor for many years. Chris was a spiritual man and was devoted to his church; he served on the council and was involved in church activities, fundraisers, and over the last several years, running the sound system for services.

Chris’ hospitality was well known and he greatly enjoyed cooking for others, including his annual crockpot of clam chowder for the Ivanhoe Soup Buffet. He sang with the Ivanhoe Chancel Choir and the Raytown Community Choir, and spent a lifetime cheering on Kansas City sports teams. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

Chris was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Holzapfel; and his parents, Harry Christian Holzapfel Sr and Lula Packwood Holzapfel.

Chris is survived by his sister, Shirley (Holzapfel) McCrorey; his nieces and nephews, Marsha & Gary Carper, Colleen & Brett Perkins, Larry & Jackie McCrorey, and Steve McCrorey; and many great-nieces and great-nephew and even a few great-greats.
