Herbert L. House

Herbert L. House, 87, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away peacefully in his sleep, March 8, 2012.  Visitation will be held 6-7:30 PM, Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, Raytown, MO.  Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, March 14th at the funeral home.  Burial in Floral Hills East Cemetery, Lee’s Summit, MO.  Mr. House was born in Sarcoxie, MO, graduated HS, and proudly served in the Army in WWII.  He later went to college, worked as a mechanical engineer and retired from Gen. Serv. Admin.  His work in real estate began early and continued to the day before his death.  He loved helping people find a home they could afford and would enjoy living in.  He participated in Boy Scouts with his sons, enjoyed backyard wiffle ball, family camping vacations, and neighborhood bicycle riding with his family.  He was a generous man and showed kindness as often as he could.  His love for his country and strong work ethic was a model for many.   He will be dearly missed.  He was preceded in death by; brother, two sisters, and wife, Ida Mae House.  Survivors include: JJ Anderson, of the home; children, John House, Doris House, Jim House, Stephanie House, Jeff House; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to; Children’s Miracle Network or American Cancer Society.     We are so sorry for your loss. I have only fond memories of Herb. He looks so much like my dad it feels as if I have lost him again. Prayers. Love Bill

    Herb and his wife, Ida Mae, were extremely accommodating and supportive of our family during several trying periods. They helped us tremendously and with great understanding and comfort. May they both rest in peace. My heart goes out to the family.
