Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Howard Bock, 93, of Fulton entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia. Howard was very appreciative, as is the family, of the care and consideration that he received at the Veteran’s Hospital over the last decades but specifically during his final days. A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Heartland, 616 Jackson St., Columbia, MO 65203. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Montgomery City Cemetery.
Howard was born in Hermann, MO and met his wife of over 71 years, Mary Gibson Bock, in the middle of the Hermann bridge. Prior to his retirement, Howard was a watch repairman working for various jewelry stores in Central Missouri. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping at Graham Cave State Park and watching wildlife. In his later years, he and Mary could be found going on nightly drives to see if they could spot deer. He spent many hours feeding and caring for the birds and squirrels in their back yard. Howard was known for his kindness, generosity and, most notably, his sense of humor.
Howard is also survived by his two children Cyril (Kathy Miller) Bock of Espanola, NM and Fran (Jeff Petty) Bock of Jefferson City, his sister LaVerne Bernat of New Florence, a brother-in-law Denny (Margaret) Gibson of O’Fallon and a sister-in-law Irma Bock of Hermann. Other survivors include his ‘surrogate’ grand kids: Jaime, Faith, Mia, Ben, Isla, Joel and two grand-dogs, Heidi and Hannah.
Howard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fulton, the American Legion and the DAV. In lieu of flowers that family has requested memorials to the Disabled American Veterans.
Uncle Howard was really a funny guy … Mom and Dad thoroughly enjoyed visiting him and Aunt Mary. I would always hear his jokes second hand through my Dad. Uncle Howard definitely will be missed.
Greatest sympathy to Aunt Mary, Cyril and Fran. God bless you all.

Mr. Bock was a very kind and funny man. Fran and i were friends from elementary school. They took me on many adventures i would never had been able to experience otherwise as a child. I still have fond memories of those years.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Fran, Mrs. (Mary) Bock & Cyril. Earth lost a really great man, and Heaven gained an angel. I’m sure he and my dad will have lots to talk about. RIP, Mr. Bock.

Dear Family of Mr. Bock
We were neighbors of Mr. & Mrs. Bock for many years during the 1980’s, 1990’s and early 2000’s on Douglas Boulevard, Fulton.
I am pretty sure Mr. Bock was the last resident to live in his home on Douglas Boulevard since we have moved from that street in the mid 2000’s, as all living along that street when we did have passed or moved.
We always have had a lot of Mr. Bock and his ability to repair clocks.
Bless Mr. Bock and his family especially during this sad time.
We will not be able to attend the visitation/funeral on Tuesday, but thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
Dear Mary, Cyril, Fran and family,
Jill and I send our love and sincerest condolences for the loss of your beloved Howard. Uncle Howard may be gone from this mortal life, but he has returned to his heavenly home. I’m sure that he was welcomed with open arms from all of his family, including my parents. We wish we could be there tomorrow as you celebrate his life, and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. He was a great man and will be missed by all of us. We love him, and also all of you, very much.
Mary – Howard was one of the finest and nicest people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. I will forever be grateful for knowing both of you in much earlier years and cherish the mutual friendship between Howard, you, my parents and me. May God bless Howard and you.
