Ilse Louise Nesbitt Jones, 98, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away May 23, 2018 after a brief illness.
Ilse was born January 30, 1920 in Miami, Oklahoma, the daughter of attorney Charles R. Nesbitt and Irma (Wilhelmi) Nesbitt. She grew up in Miami and Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a Phi Beta Kappa alumna of the University of Kansas. She obtained an MA from the University of Tulsa, studying linguistic dialects and in 2002 published a translation of five ancient Etruscan texts.
Ilse had been married to Elden Clifton Jones for 59 years at his death in 2010. She is survived by their daughter Mariell.
A gravside service will be held at 2:30PM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, where Ilse will be interred beside her husband. Memorials may be made to Kansas City Hospice or Word of Life Church, 3902 NE Riverside Rd. St. Joseph, Missouri.

Very saddened to learn of Ilse’s passing. What a gracious, lovely lady. I have many fond memories from the very early years of my life when we visited with Elden & Ilse often while living in Kansas, and several times after we moved to Florida. She and Elden always made me feel welcome and wanted. My sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Mariell.
I only have memories of her on the few visits with them after we moved to Florida and would visit on holidays. I remember her as a very kind lady. My prayers for your loss.
