Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute
Irene C. Allen, 91, Peculiar, Mo passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, in Leavenworth, KS. Irene was born March 5, 1926 in Kansas City, Mo to Orville and Lola (Williamson) Gaither.
Irene accomplished everything she set out to do. Among her many years in retail, were Katz Drug Stores of 18 years, Gasser Drugs in Shawnee KS, K-mart, and Venture. She also worked in the ship yards during WWII, as well as at the Whirlpool factory in Ft Smith AR. After retiring from all of that, her husband and she bought a Chicken Farm in Springdale AR, and while her husband was still working in his career at Kroger, Irene took care of the farm of 30,000 chickens at a time. Several times they honored her with the top spot in her group, and we were all proud of her. Irene would give you the shirt off her back. If she had anything that might make your life easier, she would gladly give or share with you. When Irene said she would pray for you, she meant it. Irene had may hopes and dreams, some did not come true, but her heart was always in the right spot. Her love of her family, animals, plants, flowers, and humor were always evident. Irene was the total package, loving, caring, honest, and fun. She did all this while being a wife and mother to 5 children.
Irene was preceded in death by her her husband James W. Allen, her siblings, her parents and one of her great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her children; Rodney Allen of the home Peculiar, MO, JW Allen of KC, KS, Georgia Dringman of KC, KS, Mike Rouse and wife, Linda of Bethel Heights, AR and Ken Allen and wife, Ann of Rogers, AR, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted prior to the graveside, and Kamp’s Flowers, 8709 E. 63rd St., Kansas City, Mo 64133, (816) 356-6300 will deliver with no charge if you mention that you were recommended by Irene’s family. Memorial contributions are asked to a charity of your choice in Irene’s name.

Kelly and family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. I feel as though I have missed something on this earthly plane by never meeting your Nonnie. I enjoy the snippets you tell. The picture used in the obituary and wonderful words, help bring such an insight to what a wonderful woman who has joined her husband in eternal love.
Hoping that all the lovely, funny and ornery memories help you find comfort during this painful time.
May God hold you close in your grief.
Still missing you
