Jacqueline Armstrong

Jaqueline “Jackie” Ruth Armstrong passed away on April 11, 2016 in her home.  Jackie was born on June 1, 1942 to Truman and Ezma (Poteet) Nelson in Harrisonville, MO.

Jackie is survived by 2 sons with Frank Farmer, Robert Farmer and Bryan Farmer; a daughter and son with Fred Smith, Michele Barrier-Smith & Marold “Fred” Smith, Jr.; and the niece she welcomed into her home as a daughter, Jeannie Boyer.  Jackie was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Elizabeth A. Engert, Alice Boyer, Martha Nelson and Mary L. Hall.

Jackie lived a full life with an independent spirit:  she managed the popular Winchell’s Donuts shop in Olathe, KS; traveled the country as one of the few solo female long-haul, over-the-road truck drivers of her day (even receiving several coveted safe driver awards over her years of service); and still found time to express her creative talents in sewing, pottery, gardening, and caring for her much-loved koi pond.  She was an avid reader who supported the Olathe public library.  She was outspoken in the love and support of her family.  Jackie will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Friends & family are invited to gather at her home on Saturday, April 23rd from noon until 6pm to remember Jackie and celebrate her life.  (Please direct questions regarding the gathering to:  bryanfarmer@outlook.com.
