James Henry Hoelscher

James Henry Hoelscher, 72 of Holts Summit, MO passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Boone Hospital, Columbia, MO after a short illness.
A Celebration of Life will be on September 9, 2023 for family & friends at the Civic Center, South 282 Greenway Drive, Holts Summit, MO The doors will be open at 11:30 am; Lunch served at 1:00 pm; ending at 5:00 pm.
Jim was born July 27, 1950 in Jefferson City, MO to Joseph Frank Hoelscher, Sr. & Helen Ann (Barker) Hoelscher. He was united in marriage on February 28, 1975 at St Peters Catholic Church to Kathy Steven (Reed) Hoelscher. As a couple they were married 48 years. To this union was a son Matt “A Gift from God”.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Poeschel, sisters Betty Burks & Maggie Hoelscher
Jim is survived by his wife Kathy & son Matthew James Hoelscher both of the home, brother Joseph Frank Hoelscher, Jr. & sister Billie June (Poeschel) Strickland, numerous nieces & nephews & our beloved shih tzus Sadie & Shelby.
He will be laid to rest in Williamsburg, MO with a memorial marker at the Masonic Cemetery in California, MO.
Jim was retired & enjoyed going to gun shows, shooting ranges & deer hunting with his son Matt. Jim believed in the saving grace of Jesus & was ready to go to his heavenly home. He was a loving husband & a exceptional father.
Jim believed in the foundation of the country & our constitution. He was a strong conservative & loved to talk politics. He enjoyed barbecuing for his family & friends. He appreciated good food & desserts, especially cookies. He loved making fruitcakes at Christmas to share with his friends. Jim was an avid reader especially history. He had a wealth of knowledge, loved the great outdoors, great sense of humor & abundantly patient & he loved westerns & country music.
Jim donated his corneas to restore sight for individuals & participated in DEKS study for diabetics after his passing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers, St. Judes or the Jefferson City Animal Shelter

A Final Farewell: I thank you Lord for all the days of my life. The road at times was bumpy, but I always had family & friends at my side, so it has been a wonderful ride! If no more tomorrows I should see, then today and all my yesterdays that you gave me, I thank thee O Lord!

    Uncle Jim was a good man, and he was always good-hearted. He loved the family, the family cabin and the woods. He’ll be missed, and I wish for peace and comfort for the whole family.

    Sad to hear thisJim and I first got to know each other thru JC Parks little league baseball, then thru high school . I always liked Jim. He will be missed condolences to all RIP

    Sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. We always loved to visit with him at The Isle of Capri casino in Boonville. He will be greatly missed. We always talked about going to school together at J.C. High school. Talked about the good ole’ days of being classmates and the classes we had together. Prayers for you and your family.

    He was wonderful person that I had the privilege of calling Uncle. His love of the outdoors, and cooking is something that he passed on to many generations. We will miss you so much, but will forever have amazing memories of you. Thank you. And I love you

    Kathy and Matt. I know that this is a rough time for each of you. A big part of each of your lives will be missing. He had a good life and you will have many, many fond memories of him that can keep you going.

    Jim is a great neighbor and friend. We met on the Blvd back in the late 60’s early 70’s. On Jefferson Plaza. We will see each other again.
