James “Jim” Robert Cady passed away on October 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family in his in home in Blue Springs Missouri. Jim was born December 14, 1948 to Edward Virgil and Lila Elaine (Fuqua) Cady in Imperial Nebraska. No matter where Jim lived Imperial was always home.
He graduated from Chase County High School in 1967, then graduated from Chadron State College in 1972.
In 1968, Jim married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Cindy (Mitchell) and their marriage spanned over 58 years. It was rare to ever see one without the other.
They welcomed their first daughter Tricia Christine while living in Chadron.
In 1972, the young family moved to Casper, Wyoming, where Jim pursued new career opportunities. Jim was an elder ministering in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS), now known as Community of Christ.
In 1976 they welcomed their second daughter Jennifer Nicole.
In 1980, the family made another big move, settling in Independence, Missouri. Jim managed the of the Co-op Food Fair Grocery Store for 17 years. In 1997 Jim and Jennifer started their 20+ year career in Real Estate.
Throughout his life, Jim wore many hats—husband, Dad, Unkie, friend, minister, manager, relator. But no title meant more to him than Pazzy. Truly a one of a kind!
Jim was so happy when his daughters found great men to become their spouses and was never happier than to welcome each grandchild and great grandchild into our family.
Jim was also famous for his wicked sense of humor and found great joy in laughing or even better to make someone laugh! He was a jokester to his core. Only made better by having an accomplice – usually a grandkid! His goal was always to make other comfortable through humor.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Virgil Cady and Lila Cady his brother, Jerry Cady, Dean and Evelyn Mitchell and son in law Ron Brashear.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughters Tricia, Jennifer and her husband, James; grandchildren Jonathan, Kayla, Justin, and Jake; and great-granddaughter Gravity. And large extended family.
Through dementia we have had a long good bye as he forgot pieces of us. But we never forgot who he was and loved every new and clever way he came up with to remain connected to us and himself. It may have been through a gesture, a joke, or looking for a snack.
A Life Celebration and Fellowship will be held Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at their family home. Family and friends are invited to stop by to share stories, memories, laughter, and fellowship in celebration of Jim’s life.
In lieu of flowers the family would request donations be made to Saint Luke’s Hospice House.
To honor Jim’s memory please practice kindness, find humor and look for ways to serve mankind to make your corner of the world a little brighter, by being in it!
