James L McEvoy, 89, Shawnee, Kansas passed away September 19, 2015. A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri. Graveside will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Oakwood Cemetery, Macon, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to National Parkinson Foundation Heartland or Heart of America Council of Boy Scouts of America.
James was born October 5, 1925 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He was a World War II Army Veteran. A 50 year member of Budd Park Christian Church, Kansas City, Missouri. James will be remembered helping get his two sons and three grandsons involved in Boy Scouts where they achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a long time member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
He is preceded in death by; wife of 57 years, Martha (Lamb) McEvoy and brothers, Dan & Tim McEvoy. Survived include; sons, Larry (Dianne) Halley, Overland Park, Kansas and Richard (Flona) Halley, Shawnee, Kansas, five grandchildren, six great-grandchild; sister, Augusta Grubb, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. I am grateful for the life of Mr. McEvoy. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
