Jan Lynn Guffey, 60 of Odessa, Missouri passed away November 30, 2015 in her home. Memorial services will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Cross Creek Baptist Mission, 1050 SW 15th St, Oak Grove, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your choice of animal welfare or any mental health organizations.
Jan was born March 6, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. She was adopted by Bernie & Terry Schermer with her twin, Joy, and they were raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Jan graduated from Horton Watkins High School in 1973 and continued on to receive degrees in nursing and horticultural therapy. She worked at Truman Geriatric Hospital.
After moving to Kansas City, she met and married William D. “Danny” Powell III. They raised their family in Odessa, Missouri. Later in her life she remarried James R. “Randy” Guffey.
Jan will be remembered for her love of nature, gardening, wild flowers, singing, her pets and all animals and chocolate.
She is preceded in death by: father, Bernerd Schermer. Survivors include: husband of 14 years, Randy; mother, Terry Schermer; sister, Joy Schermer; children, Erin Blower and husband Stephen, Sierra McCord and husband Joe, Natalie Eberhard and husband Mike, Felicia Winstead and husband Mathew, Billie Powell and fiance Tyler Hardy; step-sons, Jimmy Guffey and Brandon Guffey and wife Erin; six granchildren. Most of all she loved her family.

To the Beautiful Daughters and family and friends that Jan was blessed to have I pray that God will give you comfort and peace in your time sorrow. Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Jan loved her family, loved animals and was loved by them. The world is sadder for her loss.
