Jane Louise Burgess Stoneman, 91 of Raytown, Missouri peacefully met her Lord on May 25, 2025 at the Wilshire at Lakewood Rehabilitation Center in Lee’s Summit Missouri following a brief Illness.
Jane was born on December 19, 1933 the second of four children to the late Dorothy Henrietta Bridges Burgess and Loyd Burgess in Pomona, Missouri. She graduated from West Plains High School in 1951 before moving to Kansas City, Missouri where she met her late husband Albert E Stoneman whom she married in West Plains, Missouri on June 7, 1953. They would later settle in Raytown, Missouri where they had three children and spent 24 years together before his death.
She spent many years working as a billing and bookkeeping representative for Hallmark Cards, The Jewish Geriatric Center, and for Hospital Hill at the Truman Medical Center Lee’s Summit campus. Upon her retirement from Hospital Hill in 1998, Jane spent the remainder of her life, caring for her grandchildren, watching many Kansas City Chief’s football games, being an avid bird-watcher and puzzle solver and attending weekly church services and Bible studies as she was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 72 years and a faithful follower of Christ her whole life.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, her son James Howard Stoneman, a granddaughter and her parents, her stepmother, Dorothy Brower Burgess, and two brothers, Eldon Burgess and Lloyd Burgess.
She is survived by her son, Leonard Stoneman (Donna) of Lee’s Summit, and her daughter, Glenda Lamm (Jim) of Overland Park, Kansas, a much loved “like a daughter,” Nina Bloecher of Independence, Missouri, one sister Myrna Clark of Overland Park, Kansas, one half-sister Judy Hanshaw of West Plains, Missouri and two step sisters, Mary Lou Arnote of Kansas City, Missouri and Betty Rhodes of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by her five beloved grandchildren, Michael (Katie) and Jonathan Stoneman, Amy Stoneman Robbins (Zach) and Jackson and Sophie Lamm as well as five beloved great-grandchildren; Ava and Claire Stoneman and Lillian, Abigail and Maxwell Robbins.
Mom and grandma, “nan,” thank you for everything you did for your family over the years, your work ethic and love of God was boundless. We will love you and miss you until we meet again.
A celebration of life will be held at the Gregory Blvd Church of Christ, 7109 Raytown Rd, Raytown, MO 64133 on June 6, 2025 11:00 am and visitation at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be held on June 9, 2025 at 11:00 am at Patterson Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gregory Blvd., Church of Christ 7109 Raytown Rd., Raytown, MO 64133.
